The Grants Program does not pose limits on the size or duration of the grant request. Each grants request will be assessed based upon its quality, budget, design and impact.
Although research grants for animal health (veterinary) would not fall within the program, concepts involving the use of animal models in research that may have future promise in human therapy and that fall within the Grants Program interest scope would be suitable for submission.
Indirect research costs will be limited to a maximum of 15% of the research costs related to the grants submitted.
Requests from for–profit organizations or research proposals that are commercial in scope will not be considered for review and should not be submitted via the Grants Program.
When reviewing grants applications, the Octapharma grants committee considers the following factors:
1. How high are the intellectual quality and merit of the study?
2. What is its potential impact?
3. How novel is the proposal? (If not novel, to what extend does potential impact overcome this lack? Is the research likely to produce new data and concepts or confirm existing hypothesis?)
4. Is the hypothesis valid and has the applicant presented evidence supporting it?
5. Are the aims logical and realistic?
6. Are the procedures appropriate, adequate and feasible for the research?
7. Are the investigators qualified? Have they shown competence, credentials and experience?
8. Are the facilities adequate and the environment conducive to the research?
9. Overall quality and detail of proposal and research design.
